Our Overhead Thermal People Counter fits discreetly onto the ceiling facing downwards and counts the people that pass underneath using thermal technology. The sensor is designed to detect the heat emitted by people passing underneath it as infrared radiation.

The units contain imaging optics, sensors, signal processing and interfacing electronics all within a discretely designed moulded housing. High-performance algorithms allow you to count people accurately even in high-volume areas.

The Overhead Thermal People Counters have two count lines allowing separate counting for both "In" and 'Out" directions. The integrated SNG Hub (Ethernet or 3G) provides the wireless capture of the counting data from one or multiple counters and uploads it to a local or remote server every minute.

For wide opening configurations you can implement additional overhead "nodes" to provide a counting coverage over an extended area.

Our unique IMMOTION software allows users to analyse the data by hour, day, week, month, and year in table or graph form. This valuable information reveals peak traffic periods to determine optimal operating hours and staffing requirements, and helps calculate customer/sales conversion ratios.

Overhead Thermal Sensor

Overhead Thermal Sensor

Overhead Thermal Sensor

Our Overhead Thermal Sensor is a ceiling mounted device designed specifically to count multiple people in both directions. It uses a heat-sensitive sensor and a high speed signal processing controller all neatly contained within a moulded plastic housing for easy mounting to the ceiling.

The downward looking configuration allows the thermal sensor to record a count by detecting the heat emitted by people passing underneath within the sensing area. The sensing area of the detector is a square on the floor and the width approximately equal to mounting height (e.g. when mounted at 3.5m a 60˚ unit ‘sees’ a 3.25 x 3.25m square on the floor).

For wide locations, a number of sensors can be joined together to increase the zone span.

The captured people count data is automatically relayed wirelessly from Overhead Thermal Sensor to the Ethernet Network Gateway device (SNG10E) or 3G Gateway device (SNG103G)

This particular model PCM30C1 has a mounting height of 2.2m to 4.8m. (Optional model PCM31C1 with a mounting height of 4.0m to 7.0m is also available)

SNG Hub (Sensor Network Gateway)

SNG Hub (Sensor Network Gateway)

The SNG Hub wirelessly communicates with the people counting sensors to receive the latest, up to date, count data from one or more entrances within a 20 metre radius. Once received, the count data is automatically sent at regular intervals to the IMMOTION™ software where the count data can be viewed/exported by hour/day/week/month year totals.

The SNG Hub is available in two editions:

Ethernet (SNG10E) Edition

SNG10EThe Ethernet edition (SNG10E) is designed to connect directly into your local network via an Ethernet LAN port or can be connected to your buildings Wi-Fi via an optional Wi-Fi Access Point/Bridge. The SNG10E is ideal for situations where there are Ethernet ports available within a 20 metre range of the people counting sensors. The hub is able to collect count data from up to 10 sensors within a 20 metre radius.

3G (SNG3G) Edition

SNG3GThe 3G Edition (SNG3G) utilises a cellular 3G connection to communicate to the IMMOTION software. The SNG3G is ideal for situations where there are no Ethernet ports available near the sensors. The hub is able to collect count data from up to 10 sensors within a 20 metre radius. The SNG3G requires a full size SIM (not included) and is compatible with all the mobile data providers in Australia and New Zealand.

To use the SNG3G you will also need to be ensure that the server you install IMMOTION™ software onto is externally accessible over the internet.

IMMOTION™ Software

IMMOTION™ Software

Our IMMOTION™ software allows users to analyse count data by hour, day, week, month, and year in table or graph form. This valuable information reveals peak traffic periods to determine optimal operating hours and staffing requirements, and helps calculate customer/sales conversion ratios.

The IMMOTION™ software/database is optimised to handle multiple locations and/or people counters for easy viewing and overall analysis. The IMMOTION™ software/database is scalable so that additional SNG Hub's (SNG) and/or door counters can be added at any time.

IMMOTION™ Video Overview

Occupancy Display

Occupancy - Live Inside

Occupancy - People Inside

Our wireless people counting solutions records the number of people entering and exiting a building or location in real time. From this information we can calculate and display the total number of people in a venue at any one time. This feature is ideal for venues that are required to monitor capacity numbers in real time to comply with liquor licensing laws, venue capacity limits, etc.

The live count is displayed on a custom styled web page that is compatible with any web-enabled PC, TV, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

The live count total continuously updates depending on the number of people entering or leaving the location. In addition, a separate 'IN' and 'OUT' count total is collected and can be viewed in an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly breakdown.

As our people counters only count and do not identify people, the privacy of people passing through our counters is assured.

Please visit our Occupancy People Counters page for more information.

Optional Extras:

Wireless Range Extender

Range Extender for Wireless People Counters

wireless range extender

The Range Extender increases the wireless range between a Wireless People Counter and the SNG Hub.

With the Wireless People Counter solution the SNG Hub captures the counting data from one or multiple counters and uploads it to a local or remote server every minute. This requires the SNG Hub to be located anywhere within a range of up to 30 metres (unobstructed) from the Wireless People Counter. Implementing the Range Extender effectively increases the range between the SNG Hub and a single Wireless People Counter by up to a further 30 metre range.

The Range Extender has been designed for ease of installation: when a SNG Hub is found the LEDs display the signal strength of the detected device. We recommend the Range Extender is installed in a high position to improve the wireless signal via line of sight.
